we're interested in how your area of Essex has shaped who you are, and the intersection with what you're passionate about changing (in yourself, in Essex or beyond).

don't be afraid to experiment with your interpretation and speak your mind - we want to hear from as many perspectives as possible.

Printed publications for The Chalk will be sold to raise money and awareness for both local and national causes (this issue’s TBA!)

whether you're a seasoned professional or a total newbie, get in touch!

guidelines:

• 16+ creatives only.

• The Chalk is unable to pay for submissions at this point (sorry!) 

•  no work that perpetuates discrimination including racism, homophobia/transphobia, sexism or anything that harms or causes offence to another's existence. this is a platform to advocate for the support, equality and freedom for all - please respect that.

• keep it as clean as you can! 

• we'd love work to be created specifically for this project, but it's not an issue if your work is published elsewhere. 

• open to any creative medium - not limited to written work (articles/poetry/short stories), artwork, photography, design, mixed media. If you'd like to submit but are unsure if your work will fit, please email us.
